Warsaw (February 15, 2024) – The game under the working title “Project Papillon” will be a unique fusion of survival and roguelite genres, as Cherrypick Games reveals the first details about their new project, including artwork showcasing this title.
We are convinced that we have an original and interesting idea for gameplay, story, and graphics. We have already showcased the game prototype at the ‘Pocket Gamer Connect’ conference in London, where it received significant interest from our potential partners and the press. In the coming weeks, we will continue to present our project, including the GDC trade show in March. However, the most important focus remains on the game development.” said Marcin Kwaśnica, CEO of Cherrypick Games. He emphasized that the game will be released under a premium (paid) model.
The main theme of the game will be survival in adverse conditions in the face of lurking threats. The roguelite mechanics will provide each player with an individual experience and attractive replayability.
According to the updated strategy, Cherrypick Games plans to release the title on multiple gaming platforms under a premium (paid) model.
“We want ‘Project Papillon’ to be available on PC computers, Playstation, Xbox, and Nintendo consoles, as well as mobile devices. Our project will perform well on each of these platforms. The game uniquely combines survival mechanics, currently very popular in all gaming platform markets, with an adapted progression system called roguelite. This combination is strengthened in our concept by unique aesthetic aspects that closely interact with the gameplay, creating a unique whole. The game is designed as a product that will be developed and strengthened long after its release, so we are already developing a premium DLC publishing strategy (downloadable content) extending to a year after the initial release.” said Michał Sroczyński, vice president of the company.
Historically, Cherrypick Games specialized in games designed for mobile platforms, but their game released last year, “Kingdoms: Merge & Build,” is available on all Apple devices, including iPhones, MacOS computers, and Apple tvOS (currently, the company is working on its adaptation for the Apple Vision Pro device).
The Cherrypick team will leverage valuable experiences gained from this project. It’s important that the company has developer and publisher accounts on these platforms. Additionally, since 2022, Cherrypick Games has been consistently strengthening its development team.
“Three years ago, we were fighting for survival, and today we’re executing projects funded by partners like Apple, and we’re ready to undertake even more ambitious endeavors. Hence the decision to start creating cross-platform games and transitioning to a premium model.” emphasized Marcin Kwaśnica.
Premium games are a key element of the Company’s updated strategy. However, it also entails continuing collaboration with existing major partners, such as Apple (which funded the production of “Kingdoms: Merge & Build” and still supports its development). Cherrypick Games also intends to release games from its portfolio (back catalogue) on new platforms.
Cherrypick Games reported PLN 4.94 million revenue and PLN 3.02 million net profit in the three quarters of 2023. This represents an increase of 83.7% and 6.8%, respectively, compared to the same period last year. The company is debt-free, and its financial results confirm solid cash flows. Net cash flows from operating activities were positive, amounting to PLN 735 thousand in the third quarter of 2023 and PLN 3.88 million in total for the three quarters of 2023.
